A Little Spotlight, A Lot of Gratitude: Featured by the Denison Area Chamber

Every once in a while, it's nice to step out from behind the camera and share a little of my own story.

I recently had the pleasure of being featured in the Denison Area Chamber of Commerce Member Spotlight, and I have to say, their team did such a wonderful job!

The spotlight gave me an opportunity to reflect on where Courtney Mitchell Photography began, how much has changed over the past 17 years, and what continues to inspire me to create.

From Taking Pictures to Creating Something That Lasts

When I started my photography business 17 years ago, I simply loved photographing children. I had no idea just how much that passion would grow or where it would take me.

Over the years, my work has evolved into something much bigger than taking beautiful photographs.

Today, whether I'm photographing a high school senior, a family, or a business professional, my goal is to create something that has meaning beyond the day it was photographed.

That's why finished portrait artwork has become such an important part of what I do. I believe the photographs we treasure deserve more than a place on a hard drive. They deserve to be seen, enjoyed, and passed down.

And lately, that creative journey has taken another exciting turn with the introduction of my hand-embellished mixed-media portraits, combining photography and fine art to create truly one-of-a-kind pieces.

One Community, So Many Connections

Another part of the spotlight that meant a lot to me was the opportunity to talk about why I joined the Denison Area Chamber.

Although my studio is located in historic downtown Sherman, I've always viewed Texoma as one larger community rather than a collection of individual cities.

Our businesses, families, and communities are connected in so many ways. Being involved with the Chamber is another opportunity to build relationships, support fellow business owners, and contribute to the place we all call home.

And I have to say, the Chamber team does an incredible job of celebrating the people and businesses that make this area special!

Still Creating. Still Learning. Still Growing.

Seventeen years into this business, one of my favorite things is that I'm still finding new ways to create.

The tools may change, the techniques may evolve, and the artwork may take on new forms, but the heart behind it remains the same.

Creating something meaningful. Something personal. Something worth keeping.

Simple. Beauty. Forever.

A huge thank-you to the Denison Area Chamber of Commerce for featuring Courtney Mitchell Photography and for the wonderful work they do throughout our community.
