Every Great Collaboration Starts Somewhere
One of my favorite parts of being a professional photographer in Sherman, Texas is watching my clients' stories evolve over time. A single photography session often becomes the beginning of a lasting relationship, with each new chapter requiring fresh images that reflect where they are today.
That was the case with local country artist David Whitfield.
When we first worked together, our goal was to create a collection of professional headshots that reflected who he is as an artist. These weren't just portraits. They were branding images designed for social media, promotional materials, press releases, streaming platforms, and marketing as he continued building his music career.
For musicians, entrepreneurs, and business owners alike, professional headshots are often the first step in creating a strong and recognizable personal brand.
More Than a Headshot
A personal brand doesn't stand still, and neither should your photography.
As an artist grows, their visual identity grows with them. New opportunities often call for new imagery that tells a deeper story and connects with the audience in a meaningful way.
When David began preparing for the release of his newest single, "Pitchfork Road," he knew this project needed something beyond a traditional portrait. He wanted artwork that captured the feeling of the song before listeners ever heard the first note.
That conversation became the foundation for our next session.
Bringing "Pitchfork Road" to Life
One of my favorite aspects of branding photography and commercial photography is collaborating with clients long before the camera comes out.
David shared his vision from the very beginning, and every creative decision supported that vision.

None of those elements were chosen by accident. Together they created an authentic visual story that reflects both the music and the artist behind it.
Whether I'm photographing a musician, a small business owner, or a corporate team, my goal is always the same: create images with purpose that communicate a client's story.
The Final Cover Art
After months of planning and collaboration, everything came together.
The final image became the official cover art for David Whitfield's new single, "Pitchfork Road."
There's something incredibly rewarding about seeing photography become part of someone else's creative work. Knowing these images would introduce listeners to David's music made this project especially meaningful.
